FoundHers offers ambitious leaders the chance to transform their ideas into successful tech ventures. A key feature is matching new tech founders with a Fractional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) who provides hands-on support to overcome technical challenges throughout the program.

Curriculum Modules

Module 1:

Business Fundamentals

  • Foundation and Market Analysis: Learn how to ground your idea with strong market research and a clear understanding of your target audience.
  • Business Model & Product Market Fit: Define your business model and explore strategies for aligning your product with real customer needs.
  • Business Strategy & Financial Forecasting: Build a strategic plan and create financial projections that support sustainable growth.
  • Brand Creation: Craft a brand that communicates your mission, connects with your audience, and stands out in the market.

Module 2

Product and Business Growth

  • Product Roadmap and User Growth: Turn your vision into action with a focused product roadmap that prioritizes impact and feasibility. Also, explore practical growth strategies to attract, retain, and engage your ideal users.
  • Technical Resource Planning and Teams & Operations: Learn how to assess, plan, and allocate the technical resources your startup needs to succeed. Also, understand how to build effective teams and streamline your operations for long-term success.
  • Funding Clinic: Dilutive vs Non-Dilutive Funding: Navigate funding options with clarity—know what’s available, what fits your goals, and how to prepare.
  • Legal Clinic: Tech & Business Structures” Get legal insight into choosing the right structure and protecting your tech and business from day one.
  • Mental Health & Business Session: Explore the emotional side of entrepreneurship, including mental wellness, authenticity, and navigating business as a woman of color in Canada.

Module 3

Funding and Investment Readiness

  • Business Valuation & Venture Landscape: Demystify business valuation and learn where your venture fits in today’s investment ecosystem.
  • Presentation Skills: Sharpen your storytelling and delivery so you can pitch with clarity, confidence, and presence.
  • Pitch Coaching Session; Receive direct feedback and expert guidance to refine and elevate your pitch.
  • Mock Pitch Practice: Put your skills to the test in a supportive space to practice, polish, and build confidence.
  • Demo Day: Step into the spotlight to present your venture to a live or virtual audience of peers, mentors, and potential investors.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Black women-led business (at least 33% ownership)
  • Tech-enabled or innovative business model
  • Has made some traction (either revenue generating or has a growing customer base)
  • Existing MVP (Minimum Viable Product)
  • Founders has a plan to raise venture capital or private equity in the near future (12 to 18 months) with a revenue plan in place
  • Scalable business potential
