The Ministry of Steel Development is tasked with regulating and advancing the steel and other metals sector through policies and initiatives. The Ministry is launching a one-month boot-camp training program designed to provide technical skills and support to both existing and aspiring artisans within the metals industry.

This programme aims to empower selected youths with advanced expertise in three specialized areas as detailed in the accompanying form.

Additionally, participants who successfully complete the training will receive equipment support to help them grow or expand their businesses, thereby creating job opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.  The three training categories and their respective eligibility  criteria are as follows

Youth Empowerment by Ministry of Steel Development 2024

• Welding & Fabrication
• Industrial Foundry & Metallurgy
• Instrumentation, Systems Control & Mechanical Maintenance

Benefit:

Eligibility for Applicants for Welding and Fabrication:

• Must be a Nigerian and provide valid means of identification
• Must be between 18 and 40 years old
• May/may not have basic knowledge of welding.
• Must have at least a secondary school O’ Level certificate
• Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
• Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme

Eligibility for Applicants for Industrial Foundry and Metallurgy:

• Must be a Nigerian and provide valid means of identification
• Must be between 18 and 40 years old.
• May/may not have basic knowledge of foundry techniques.
• Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
• Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme

Eligibility for Applicants for Instrumentation & control System and Mechanical Maintenance:

• Should be a graduate of Electrical and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
• Must be a Nigerian an d provide valid means of identification
• Must be between 18 and 40 years.
• Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
• Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme
