Rivers State Kicks Off Grassroots Mobilization for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ( How to Enroll)

A new wave of political mobilisation has begun in Rivers State with the formal launch of coordinators and ambassadors of the Renewed Hope movement across the 23 local government areas. The initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme designed to strengthen grassroots political structures and build support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of future elections.

The inauguration ceremony, held in Port Harcourt, attracted political leaders, party stakeholders, and supporters of the Renewed Hope agenda from across the state. Despite the wide participation, Governor Siminalayi Fubara was absent from the event.

Organisers maintained that his non-attendance did not undermine the purpose of the gathering, which focused on consolidating political structures at senatorial and local government levels.

Addressing participants, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, issued a strong warning regarding access to the Yakubu Gowon Stadium for future political rallies. He alleged that the state government had denied his group permission to use the facility, describing the action as unprecedented in Rivers State’s political history.

Wike stated that if access continued to be blocked, his supporters would force their way into the stadium, insisting that such actions would not halt political activities in the state.

Wike also emphasised Rivers State’s role in leading political mobilisation in Nigeria, asserting that the state had demonstrated tangible commitment to President Tinubu’s administration.

He announced that political activities had officially commenced, with ward-level inaugurations expected to follow. He further questioned the level of alignment between the state government and the Renewed Hope agenda, stressing that political rewards are based on loyalty and commitment rather than financial contributions.

The former governor also revealed that the rally was organised through a coalition effort and expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for supporting the Ijaw coalition in producing candidates for upcoming by-elections in Khana Constituency II and Ahoada West Constituency II.

He urged supporters to actively participate in the February 21 polls and assured them of continued mobilisation and logistical support.

Other prominent political figures at the event reaffirmed their support for President Tinubu. Senator George Sekibo praised the president for his developmental projects and appointments benefiting Rivers State, while Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Okey Chinda, endorsed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

They described the political developments in the state as historic and pledged continued backing for the Renewed Hope agenda.

Similarly, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaehula, and the All Progressives Congress State Chairman, Tony Okocha, expressed their commitment to supporting the president’s leadership and political vision.
