(1) Matriculation Ceremony

Date: Saturday, March 7, 2026

Time: 10:00 a.m. Prompt

Venues: Various Faculties across all Campuses

This landmark event marks the formal entry of new students into one of Nigeria’s most prestigious first-generation universities, where they will take the oath of studentship.

Following the institutional tradition, the ceremony will be decentralized to ensure a more personal and organized experience for the large volume of freshmen across all campuses. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, who assumed office in August 2025 as the 16th Vice-Chancellor, will preside over the event, which is expected to showcase the university’s commitment to “restoring the dignity of man.”

Freshmen are strictly advised to confirm their specific faculty venue with their Faculty Officers. Due to the decentralized nature of the event, most faculties utilize their designated lecture theatres or open arenas within their faculty clusters.
