The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched the One Humanitarian – One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS), a groundbreaking national initiative aimed at unifying and strengthening the country’s efforts to reduce poverty and improve humanitarian interventions.

This ambitious program supports the Presidential goal of lifting 50 million Nigerians out of poverty by using real-time digital systems, harmonized data, and a comprehensive whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach.

At the heart of OHOPRS is a Unified National Register and a Poverty Exit Pathway, which will track individuals from vulnerability through targeted support programs to achieve self-reliance and sustainable growth. A Poverty Intelligence Lab will drive the initiative, providing real-time analytics and data-driven decision-making for effective interventions.

The launch took place at a high-level technical workshop at the United Nations House, Abuja, with participation from UN agencies, development partners, and key national stakeholders. Dr. Bernard M. Doro, Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, described OHOPRS as a “unified national architecture” that seamlessly integrates humanitarian aid, social protection, and long-term development into a coordinated system.

Built on the principle of “One System, One Register, One Pathway,” OHOPRS promises transparency, efficiency, and accountability in reaching Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations. The Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating and integrating all existing social support programs under this innovative framework.
