Apply Hellerau Photography Portraits Award 2025 portal are now open, Welcome to the tenth edition of the PORTRAITS – Hellerau Photography Award and its new theme, “Echoes of Truth”. For the first time, you can apply either with a series of up to 20 images or with single works. There is an early-bird student discount of 50% for both categories

Their traditional venue of previous years, Dresden’s Museum of Science and Technology which also holds the vast collection of the city’s former Museum of Photography, will host our finalist exhibition for the sixth time.

Numerous satellite exhibitions, including a new solo show by the current artist in residence, and a number of public events including portfolio reviews, artist talks, etc. revolving around our ten-year anniversary complete our competition program.

The winners will be announced at the vernissage in June 2025 (1st prize: 5,000 EUR, 2nd prize: 2,000 EUR, 3rd prize: 1,000 EUR, residency prize: a scholarship at HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts).

Along the annual exhibition, a newly designed catalog will be published. Oh, be inspired by ordering one of the previous nine ones by ordering them on our website. Shipping is free worldwide…

What’s the theme?

• ECHOES OF TRUTH. In our cynical, post-factual times, are you still seeking sincerity, fortrightness, veracity or candour in your works? Aren’t these traits that used to bind us together?

What can I win?

• 1st Prize: 5000 EUR. 2nd prize: 2000 EUR. 3rd prize: 1000 EUR. Residency Prize at HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts. Or a jury invitation to one of our many solo shows.

What does it cost?

• 50 EUR per series / 30 EUR per single work. For multiple single works, submit separate applications in the SINGLE category. Student discounts: email us before 31/12/2024. No free entries.

What can be submitted?

• Either series of up to 20 – or single works. Video / installations can be part of your application. Our themes are broad suggestions, regarding lens-based photography in its widest sense.
