TVET 2026 Training Centres Application Portal Open: NBTE Accreditation Requirements & How to Apply

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially opened the application portal for training centres to participate in the 2026 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme. This initiative aims to strengthen technical skills development across the country by engaging qualified training centres, vocational institutions, and mastercraft professionals.

To qualify for the programme, interested training centres must first obtain accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Only accredited centres will be allowed to complete registration through the official TVET portal. Currently, the portal is active and receiving applications from eligible institutions nationwide.

Participation in the TVET programme is open to three major categories: Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs), Skill Training Centres (STCs), and Mastercraft Persons (MCPs). However, only businesses registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) are eligible to apply, except MCPs who may also use their National Identification Number (NIN).

One of the major benefits of the TVET initiative is financial support for trainers. Under the programme, approved trainers will receive ₦45,000 per student every month, making it a lucrative opportunity for accredited training centres and skilled professionals.

For VEIs, applicants must present proof of CAC registration, adopt NSQ-based curricula, and employ at least one qualified instructor per trade with a recommended instructor-to-student ratio of 1:40. They must also provide quality assurance personnel, including a Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) and an Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM), along with functional training facilities such as workshops and classrooms.

Skill Training Centres (STCs) are required to have CAC registration, qualified instructors or senior artisans with NSQ Level 3 certification, adequate technical staff, and proper training facilities. They must also maintain records of previous training programmes and certifications.

Mastercraft Persons (MCPs) must demonstrate practical skills experience, provide CAC registration or NIN, and ensure an appropriate trainee-to-artisan ratio. They are also expected to show evidence of past training activities and access to functional workshops.

Applicants are advised to carefully complete the registration process and save their User ID for future access, as only one application is allowed per applicant. With the portal currently open, eligible training centres are encouraged to apply early to secure their participation in the 2026 TVET programme.
