The Nigerian film industry, commonly referred to as Nollywood, is renowned as one of the largest film industries in the world, both in terms of output and cultural influence. Recognizing Nollywood’s global potential, the Nigerian Film Academy (NFA) has been working to elevate the quality of Nigerian cinema by fostering collaborations with international partners.

A significant development in this regard is its partnership with the United States, which aims to enhance the technical expertise, storytelling quality, and global outreach of Nigerian films. This partnership has the potential to redefine African cinema on the world stage.

The focus of this workshop is to pass on as much knowledge and experience to the youths as possible. The workshop aims to develop the next generation of Nigerian filmmakers and creators by providing direct, hands-on experience with top U.S. industry professionals

Nigerian Film Academy

The Nigerian Film Academy is a premier institution dedicated to the development and promotion of Nigeria’s film industry. Established to address the industry’s evolving needs, the Academy offers training, mentorship, and capacity-building programs for filmmakers, actors, writers, and other professionals in the cinematic arts.

Its mission is to bridge the gap between raw talent and global standards, ensuring that Nigerian films can compete with productions from established markets like Hollywood and Bollywood.

The event, which took place at the KAP Hub in Ikeja, Lagos, featured prominent guests, including the U.S. Consul-General, Will Stevens and Hollywood Director, Angel Kristi Williams, who is Director of the Class, and Cinematographer Erin G. Wesley as Director of Cinematography.

The Hollywood crew joined ace actor, director and filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, to embark on the four-day intensive workshop, which commenced on November 12 and will stretch till Saturday, November 16, 2024
