For Geology, an Honours degree is mandatory according to the programme requirements.
Applicants must generally be South African citizens by birth from Sasol Mining Fence-line communities and must be undertaking, or intending to undertake, full-time degree studies at an approved South African institution.
Academic Requirements
The academic thresholds differ according to the degree pathway.
For B.Eng. and B.Sc. Engineering, applicants require Level 6 performance in Mathematics and Physical Science, generally corresponding to 70–79%, together with the specified English-language requirement.
For B.Eng. Tech., applicants require Level 5 performance in Mathematics and Physical Science, generally corresponding to 60–69%, alongside the applicable English requirement.
The programme also evaluates students according to their stage of study. First-year applicants submit Grade 11 or Grade 12 results, while students in subsequent years generally submit the results from their preceding academic year.
