They believe that by hosting a transparent, juried competition in which an expert panel of photographers and editors share their own humanity through honest discussion of journalistic work that POY builds public trust in journalism and the people who practice it.

Who hosts this contest?

• Pictures of the Year International is a program of the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism. POYi supports an educational mission without profit.

What’s the theme?

• “Show truth with a camera.” Share your best journalistic work.

$1,000 cash & Tiffany crystal trophy:

• International Photographer of the Year
• Photographer of the Year
• World Understanding Award Community Awareness Award
• Environmental Vision Award

Tiffany crystal trophy:

• Sports Photographer of the Year
• Visual Editor of the Year Angus McDougall Excellence in Editing

Angus McDougall Excellence in Editing Award:

• Winning organization receives a sterling silver trophy for one year, a Tiffany crystal trophy for the presiding editor and tuition to the Missouri Photo Workshop

Individual category winners:

• 1st— Engraved plaque
• 2nd, 3rd, Finalist & Award of Excellence — PDF Certificate award

How to Apply

1. Pay the entry fee of US$50 at https://poy.org. On Jan. 6, the fee becomes US$60.
2. Receive a reference code in your receipt.
3. Enter the code at Picter and enter POY.

What can be submitted?

• Enter single images, picture stories, projects and short documentary film. Editors may enter .jpgs of published pagers and URL links of online entries.
