German Development Institute MGG Academy 2025 for Emerging Global Leaders (Fully Funded)
The academy fosters international cooperation and leadership development, bringing together experts from governmental institutions, research organizations, civil society, and the private sector across Brazil, China, the European Union (EU), India, Indonesia, Mexico, and South Africa.
This program is tailored for future changemakers dedicated to global governance, sustainability transformation, and international collaboration. Participants will enhance their leadership skills through self-reflection, experience-based learning, and interdisciplinary exchange, building a strong network to co-create solutions for global challenges.
The 2025 MGG Academy will take place from September 4 to November 23, 2025, in Bonn, Germany.
Eligibility Criteria
Prospective participants should:
- Be a national or permanent resident of one of the participating countries (Brazil, China, EU, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa).
- Work on global governance and/or sustainable development issues.
- Hold a university degree (minimum bachelor’s level).
- Have 3 to 15 years of professional experience in a field related to global cooperation or sustainability.
- Be proficient in English, with the ability to actively engage in discussions and share perspectives.
- Obtain written support from their employer as part of the application.
- Be prepared to commit to a full-time, intensive program (40 hours per week).
- Be open to teamwork, intercultural exchange, and diverse learning methods.
- Be willing to reflect on personal experiences, attitudes, and skills.
Employer Support Requirements
Employers are expected to:
- Grant special leave for the training period, relieving participants of work duties.
- Cover the costs of round-trip travel to and from Germany.
- Ensure financial support for the participant’s family during their absence.
- Facilitate the application of new competencies in their workplace after the program.
Program Benefits
The MGG Academy is fully funded, offering participants:
- Free participation in all program components.
- Accommodation throughout the program.
- A monthly stipend totaling €2,200, paid in three installments.
- Health, accident, and liability insurance coverage.
- A monthly public transport ticket for local travel.
- Coverage of travel costs within Germany and Europe for academy-related activities.
Please note that family support is not provided, and travel costs to Germany must be covered by the employer.
