
Apply Internet Governance Forum 2025 Travel Support | The United Nations has long emphasized the need for greater inclusivity in the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) processes. During IGF 2018, the UN Secretary-General highlighted the importance of amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups and fostering a multidisciplinary approach by engaging experts beyond the usual IGF participants.

The call for greater diversity and inclusion has been echoed by the IGF community, reinforcing the need for broader participation in global internet governance discussions.
To support these efforts, a limited number of eligible candidates from developing countries will receive funding to attend the 20th annual IGF meeting.
This event, hosted by the Government of Norway, will take place in Lillestrøm from June 23 to June 27, 2025. The financial support is made possible through contributions to the IGF Global South Fund by the Norwegian government.
Eligibility Criteria
The travel support program is open to individual stakeholders who meet the following requirements:
- Represent any stakeholder group (government, civil society, private sector, or technical community).
- Come from a Least Developed Country (LDC), Landlocked Developing Country (LLDC), Small Island Developing State (SIDS), or an Economy in Transition.
- Actively contribute to the IGF 2025 process, including intersessional work, National and Regional Initiatives (NRIs), session co-organization, speaking engagements, moderation, or reporting.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in internet governance-related activities.
- Show commitment to contributing to their community after participating in IGF 2025.
- Have a recommendation from a respected community member.
Preference may be given to individuals from underrepresented groups, such as women, indigenous people, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and youth.
Selection Process
- The IGF Secretariat will evaluate applications based on the eligibility criteria. Only applications that meet the first three formal criteria will be considered further.
- The final number of selected participants will depend on available funding.
- The selection process will ensure a balanced representation across stakeholder groups, regions, genders, and age groups.
- The IGF Secretariat may proactively reach out to underrepresented stakeholders who meet the eligibility criteria and can enrich the diversity of the forum.
Application Procedure
- Interested candidates must submit their travel support applications via the official Travel Support Application e-form by February 17, 2025, at 23:59 UTC.
- Applicants are responsible for ensuring they meet all travel requirements, including obtaining necessary travel documents and complying with visa regulations.
- Candidates should regularly check the Host Country website for any updates or entry requirements for Norway.
