The Jugend fotografiert Deutschland 2024 portal are now open, If you are between 10 and 18 years old, you can participate as a group of 1 – 10 in this contest. As a team, you then create a photo story on a topic that is important to you and submit it to the contest. Stories that are important to you. The photo stories represent your reality and contribute to a dialogue about the topic and all its aspects. So it’s not about the most impressive or perfect pictures, but rather to show us with your photos what truly moves you. And because it’s about your own and very personal perspective, we only allow real photos. No AI-generated images, no exchanged backgrounds, no pasted people or objects, and no fancy filters.

The contest has two categories depending on the age of the oldest person in your group at the time you submit your photo story to the contest:

• Category 1: Age 10-14
• Category 2: Age 15-18

The winning team in each category can win 1000 €.

The nationwide photo competition “Jugend fotografiert Deutschland” is being organized for the first time in 2024 by the non-profit laif foundation on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Federal Republic of Germany. The patronage has been taken over by Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator of the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media.

What can I win?

• The winning group gets 1000€ and the images will be exhibited.

Who can submit?

• Groups between 3 – 10 participants at age between 10-18 years* old. Must be residents of Germany.

What can be submitted?

• Each group can enter one photo story with 5-10 images plus a written description about the topic and why it is important to you.
