Applications are now open for the University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship 2026/2027. This fully funded fellowship is designed to support early to mid-career African women working in public health, health policy, research, and related fields.

The fellowship is a collaborative initiative between the University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health in Canada, the Moi University School of Public Health, and the University of Cape Town School of Public Health, with support from the Mastercard Foundation.

About the Fellowship
The Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship is a 12-month hybrid training program that combines online learning, mentorship, leadership development, and an intensive in-person training academy in Kenya.
Participants will gain practical skills in global health leadership, gender equity, policy advocacy, mentorship, and strategic decision-making. The fellowship also provides a supportive environment where women professionals can connect with experts and peers across Africa.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Identify as a woman
- Be an early or mid-career professional with 5–15 years of experience in public health or global health-related work
- Hold postgraduate qualifications in Public Health, Health Policy, Health Sciences, or related disciplines
- Work in public health policy, teaching, research, or professional practice
- Demonstrate leadership experience through professional work, education, or community engagement
- Be residing and working in Kenya or South Africa
- Be an African national
- Have strong English communication skills
- Be available to attend the one-week in-person leadership academy in Kenya in early 2027
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid passport for travel

The program helps participants strengthen decision-making, collaboration, team leadership, and organizational change management skills.
Mentorship and Professional Growth
Participants will receive mentorship support to maximize leadership potential and create meaningful change in their institutions and communities.
Fellowship Structure and Phases
The fellowship program will run in four stages over 12 months.
Pre-Start Phase
- Orientation and information package
- Pre-program survey to assess participant goals and expectations
Phase 1: Online Learning
- Virtual sessions on global health leadership and gender equity
- Group assignments and reflective exercises
- Guest lectures from international experts
Phase 2: Hybrid Training
- Online workshops and mentorship preparation
- One-week intensive in-person leadership academy in Kenya
- Mentor matching activities
Phase 3: Online Mentorship
- One-on-one mentorship sessions
- Leadership project development and presentations
- Final evaluations and feedback
Post Fellowship
Graduates will join the fellowship alumni network and may become advisors for future fellowship cohorts.
How to Apply
The application process consists of two stages:
Step 1: Expression of Interest (EOI)
Interested applicants must complete the online Expression of Interest form before May 22, 2026. The process takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
Step 2: Full Application
Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to submit a full application. From this pool, 18 fellows will be selected for the 2026/2027 cohort.
