- Nigeria Prize for Science (Prize USD100,000 cash reward)
- The Nigeria Prize for Literature (Prize USD100,000 cash reward)
- The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism ( N1 million cash reward)
The Nigeria Prize for Literature and The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism is aimed at bringing Nigerian authors and literary critics to public attention and celebrating literary craftsmanship in the nation.
The Nigeria Prize for Science aims at celebrating excellence in scientific breakthroughs and honours scientists from anywhere in the world who help find solutions to a local or ‘Nigerian’ problem as defined and advertised by the Advisory Board for the prize.
The Nigeria Prize for Literature is one of the 10 richest and most prestigious literary prizes in the world.
The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism complements The Nigeria Prize for Literature by rewarding excellent literary critics of Nigerian literature.

The Nigeria Prize for Literature
Entries are hereby invited for the Nigeria prize for litereture. The yearly literature prize is spoored by Nigeria LNG to honour the author of the best book by a Nigerian.
The prize rotate among four literary genres -prose fiction, poetry, drama and children’s literature. This year, the competition is for Children’s Literature

Theme 2024: “Innovations and Technologies for Reducing the Effects of Climate change”

- The Nigeria Prize for Literature, each worth USD100,000 in award money
- The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism with a N1 million cash reward.
The Prize is an annual prize aimed at stimulating the advancement and application of science and technology. It is expected that the quest for a prestigious prize in science will improve science and technology in Nigeria, resolve issues that are germane to development of the country and help improve the standards of living.
The prize is administered on behalf of Nigeria LNG Limited by the Advisory Board for Science. The current Advisory Board is chaired by Professor Barth Nnaji, internationally-acclaimed professor of robotics, Nigeria’s former Minister of Science and Technology, and former Minister of Power.
Other members of the Board are Chief Dr. Nike Akande, a two-time minister and former President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Professor Yusuf Abubakar, a professor of Animal Breeding and Quantitative Genetics and the Coordinator of the Agriculture Group, R & D Standing Committee, at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.
Eligibility
- The award is open to scientists and innovators worldwide (Nigeria and non-Nigeria) involved in the application of science to proffer innovation and technologies for reducing the effects of climate change.
- Member of the Advisory Board or panel of Judges or their relative are not allowed to enter their works for the science prize during their year of service as well as the following year.
- Nigeria LNG Limited staff or their family members are ineligible to enter the prize during their years of service and five(5) years post -service
- The work should be of outstanding merit and should have advanced the frontiers of knowledge and/or provide an innovative technology for reducing the effect of climate change.
- The entry should be a completed scientific work, substantiated by either a proof of concept or tangible societal impact.
- Only one entry can be submitted by an individual or group.
- All materials in support of the entry must be submitted within the time stipulation
Requirements;
- Supporting articles/documents.
- One scanned passport-sized photograph.
How to Apply NLNG Nigeria Prize for Science Competition 2024
As the intention is to recognise the most relevant and effective solution to a prescribed problem for which Nigeria benefits, works of collaboration by two or more persons are also welcome.
