TWAS-CUI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme 2026 in Pakistan for Young Scientists
Applications are now open for the 2026 TWAS-CUI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme for young researchers from developing countries who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in Pakistan. The fellowship is hosted by the The World Academy of Sciences in partnership with COMSATS University Islamabad.
The programme gives outstanding scientists the opportunity to carry out advanced research in natural sciences, applied sciences, and social sciences for up to six months at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI).

About the TWAS-CUI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme
The TWAS-CUI Fellowship Programme supports postdoctoral researchers from developing countries outside Pakistan. Selected fellows will conduct research at various departments and laboratories across COMSATS University Islamabad campuses.
The fellowship duration is a maximum of six months. In some cases, an extension of another six months may be approved by both TWAS and CUI. However, no additional financial support or stipend will be provided during the extension period.
The programme is designed to strengthen scientific research collaboration and help young scientists gain international research experience in a high-quality academic environment.

Fellowship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- Monthly stipend from CUI
- Support for living expenses such as accommodation, feeding, and health insurance
- Opportunity to work with experienced researchers and supervisors
- Access to research facilities and laboratories at CUI
- International postdoctoral research experience
The stipend provided cannot be converted into foreign currency.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the TWAS-CUI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme, applicants must:
- Be citizens of a developing country other than Pakistan
- Not currently reside in Pakistan
- Not hold permanent or temporary residency in Pakistan or any developed country
- Hold a PhD degree in natural sciences or eligible social sciences
- Apply within five years of obtaining their PhD degree
- Be employed in a developing country and actively engaged in research
- Obtain an official acceptance letter from COMSATS University Islamabad
- Demonstrate proficiency in English if previous education was not in English
- Provide proof of returning to their home country after the fellowship
- Not engage in other assignments during the fellowship period
- Be financially responsible for accompanying family members
Required Acceptance Letter
Applicants must secure a preliminary acceptance letter from CUI before submitting their application.
Candidates are advised to contact prospective supervisors early to improve their chances of receiving acceptance before the deadline. Only acceptance letters dated within the same application year will be accepted.
Applications submitted without an acceptance letter will not be considered.

- English language proficiency evidence (if required)
